Quick Facts
Getting There
Port Macquarie is located on the NSW Mid North Coast, approximately 390km north of Sydney via the Pacific Highway (4-hour drive). The town is serviced by Port Macquarie Airport with regular flights from Sydney. Race village and transition areas are centrally located near the Hastings River foreshore. Ample street parking is available throughout the town centre, though early arrival is recommended on race morning. Public transport options are limited, so driving or carpooling is recommended. Plan to arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave start time.
Weather & What to Pack
Mid-October in Port Macquarie typically offers pleasant spring conditions perfect for racing. Expect daytime temperatures ranging from 18-24°C with mild mornings around 12-15°C. The coastal location means moderate humidity and occasional sea breezes that can affect the bike leg. UV levels are high, so sun protection is essential throughout the race. Water temperature in the Hastings River averages around 19-21°C in October, making it wetsuit-legal and comfortable for swimming. Pack layers for the early morning transition setup, sunscreen, and adequate hydration for the bike and run legs as spring sun can be deceptively strong.
