Event Details
Course Description
The course loops through the Western Sydney Parklands on a mix of natural bush trail, management fire trail and open grass, and it is constantly undulating rather than flat. Elevation gain scales with distance: about 136m for the 6km, 205m for the 11km, 367m for the half and 644m for the 32km. It is a genuine off-road course - trail shoes are recommended - but there is no technical rock or scrambling, so it is a good first trail race for road runners stepping across. Longer distances run multiple laps of the parkland circuit.
Getting There
Lizard Log is off The Horsley Drive in Abbotsbury, about 40 minutes west of the Sydney CBD. There is no practical public transport - come by car. Large sealed car parks sit on both sides of Lizard Log, with a grass overflow area that can need a high-clearance vehicle if it has rained.
Weather & What to Pack
Late September in western Sydney is mild spring weather, but it can reach the mid-20s by late morning and the parkland has limited shade. There is a firm midday cut-off, so the longer distances are racing the heat - carry your own fluid between aid stations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need trail shoes?
They are recommended. The course is genuine off-road - bush trail, fire trail and grass - but it is non-technical, so road runners moving up to trail will be fine.
How much climbing is there?
It is always undulating. Roughly 136m of gain for the 6km, 205m for the 11km, 367m for the half marathon and 644m for the 32km.
Is there a cut-off?
Yes - a strict midday cut-off across all distances. Registrations open at 6:00am and the presentation is at 11:00am.
What's included in the entry?
A premium event tee (valued around $70), a themed finisher's medal, post-race food, sponsor giveaways and a finisher's certificate.
Is it beginner-friendly?
The 6km and 11km are good introductions to trail running - the surface is off-road but not technical. The 32km with 644m of climb is a serious undertaking.
