About This Event
Adventure Junkie trail and adventure running event. Challenging courses through scenic terrain for runners seeking adventure beyond the road.
Course Description
The X-Marathon is an ARWS Oceania Championship adventure race that challenges teams through the rugged terrain of the Central Coast. This is not your typical running event—teams of 2 or 4 navigate through diverse landscapes using trekking, mountain biking, and kayaking across a high-end linear course. The FULL 24-hour course pushes endurance athletes to their limits, while the HALF 12-hour option offers a more accessible introduction to adventure racing. Double kayaks are supplied, and all gear logistics are handled by the organisers. Expect unpredictable conditions, exciting navigation challenges, and a true test of teamwork as you traverse trails, hills, and waterways across some of NSW's most scenic wilderness.
Quick Facts
Getting There
The race headquarters is located at Patonga on the Central Coast, approximately 90 minutes north of Sydney. Take the M1 Pacific Motorway to the Central Coast, then follow local roads to Patonga. Detailed logistics and parking information will be provided to registered teams 10 days before the event. Plan to arrive Friday evening for 6:00 PM registration and 7:00 PM briefing. Teams will need to arrange bike drop-off at TA2 on Saturday morning from 7:00 AM.
Weather & What to Pack
Early September in coastal NSW typically offers mild to warm conditions, with daytime temperatures ranging from 15-22°C. Overnight temperatures during the 24-hour race can drop to 8-12°C. Expect variable conditions including possible rain, wind, and humidity typical of coastal areas. Dress in layers suitable for both warm daytime paddling and cool night-time trekking. Pack waterproof gear for kayaking sections and ensure adequate hydration supplies, as conditions can be deceptive near the water.
