About This Event

Race Hub Australia running event featuring professionally timed races across various distances. Quality race organization with chip timing and online results.

Course Description

Set in Western Sydney Parklands at Lizard Log, this challenging course takes runners through a nature-filled oasis on a combination of paved footpaths and sealed roads. The highlight—or challenge—is the infamous 'heartbreak hill,' a tough ascent that tests even seasoned runners. The undulating terrain offers scenic views amongst natural bushland, with the first and last 200 metres run on grass. While picturesque, the hilly nature makes this course more demanding than typical flat road races. All distances follow the same route principles, with loops adjusted for distance. Runners should note the shared pathways mean staying alert for pedestrians, cyclists, and dogs throughout the course.

Getting There

The event is accessible by car only, as public transport doesn't operate early enough on Sunday mornings. Lizard Log is located off Horsley Drive in Abbotsbury, with large car parks on both the east and west sides of the venue. A grass overflow car park is available, though it may require 4WD depending on weather conditions. Plan to arrive by 5:30 AM when the event village opens for registration and bib collection.

Weather & What to Pack

Mid-June in Western Sydney brings mild winter mornings with temperatures typically ranging from 7-17°C. Expect crisp starts with possible morning fog, warming up as the sun rises. Humidity is generally lower in winter, making for comfortable running conditions. Dress in layers—start with a long-sleeve top or light jacket you can remove as you warm up. The hilly course will generate extra body heat. Early morning runners should bring a warm layer for pre-race waiting. Hydration remains important despite cooler temperatures, especially on the challenging hills.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I receive my race bib?

Race bibs are printed three weeks before race day and posted two weeks out. To have your name printed on your bib, register at least three weeks before the event. For postal delivery, register by two weeks before race day. Otherwise, collect your bib at registration from 5:30 AM on race morning.

Are there cut-off times for the races?

The Half Marathon has a 4-hour cut-off time. There are no cut-off times for the 10km, 5km, or 2km Family Dash events, so you can take your time and finish at your own pace.

What does the 2km Family Dash include?

The 2km Family Dash is designed for youngsters and families. An accompanying adult can run with their child for an additional $10 (register the child first, then add the adult option). Note that accompanying adults won't be chip-timed and won't receive a finisher's medal.

What do I receive as a finisher?

All finishers receive a themed medal at the finish line, post-race snacks, sponsor giveaways, and a finisher's certificate. All distances are professionally chip-timed by Multisport Australia, with results posted online.

Can I use headphones during the race?

Headphones are not recommended as the course is on shared pathways with other pedestrians, cyclists, and dogs. You need to remain aware of your surroundings at all times for safety.
