Quick Facts
Getting There
Long Street Park is located at Smithfield in Sydney's west, easily accessible via the M4 motorway. Ample free parking is available at the park. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your race start time, or earlier if collecting your bib on race day. Online registration closes at 6pm the day before, whilst on-the-day registration closes 15 minutes before each race start. Public transport users can catch buses to Smithfield from nearby stations, though driving is recommended for early morning starts.
Weather & What to Pack
Late May in Sydney brings cooler autumn conditions, ideal for distance running. Expect morning temperatures between 10-16°C with relatively low humidity. The early starts mean you'll likely run in crisp, fresh conditions before the day warms up. Dress in layers with a lightweight long-sleeve top or singlet depending on your preference. The sealed road surface and park setting provide good protection from wind. Hydration remains important despite cooler temps, so take advantage of water stations provided. Check the forecast beforehand as occasional rain is possible during autumn months.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a Sydney Marathon Clinic member to participate?
No, anyone can run at SMC events regardless of membership status. You can enter a single race online or purchase multiple races in advance to save time and money.
Can I register on race day?
Only if you already have a bib for the current season. Otherwise, you must register and pay online. Online registration closes at 6pm the day before, whilst on-the-day registration closes 15 minutes before each race start.
What's the difference between the 6:30am and 7:00am half marathon starts?
The 6:30am start is exclusively for runners expecting to finish slower than 2 hours 15 minutes. This ensures slower runners aren't alone on course. The 7:00am start is for faster runners. You cannot place in the 6:30am wave and may be disqualified for starting early inappropriately.
Will I receive an official time?
Yes, all runners are issued with timing chips and bibs, and all finishers receive an official time from the electronic timing system. Results are published on the website after each race.
What time must I finish by?
All runners must complete their race no later than 9:30am. The staggered start times ensure everyone has adequate time to finish within this window.
