Quick Facts
Getting There
Halls Gap is located in the heart of the Grampians, approximately 260km west of Melbourne via the Western Highway. The race starts at Halls Gap Centenary Hall on Grampians Road in the village centre. Parking is available in the town centre and near the start area - arrive early as spaces fill quickly on event day. Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before your race start for registration, gear check, and warm-up.
Weather & What to Pack
Late May brings crisp autumn conditions to the Grampians, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 10-16°C. Mornings can be quite cool (5-8°C), so layer up at the start line with arm warmers or a light jacket you can discard. The region can experience sudden weather changes, so check forecasts and be prepared for possible rain or wind. The trail sections may be slippery if wet. Hydration remains important despite cooler temperatures - the 21km course particularly demands proper fluid intake throughout.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a complimentary meal included?
Yes! All participants receive a complimentary barbecue brunch after the race, making it a great social event for families and friends.
What happens to my registration fee?
Run the Gap is run entirely by volunteers, with proceeds supporting community bike and walking path projects in Halls Gap. The event also donates $1 from each registration to the Grampians Walking Track Support Group for track maintenance.
What should I wear for the trail sections?
