Course Description

The Warwick Pentathrun is a unique two-day festival of running across five distinct race formats. Saturday kicks off with a point-to-point half marathon through Warwick's scenic countryside, followed by a 4.5km cross country challenge and a fast 5km airport runway race. Sunday begins with a stunning 10km hill run at Queen Mary Falls in nearby Killarney, featuring dramatic elevation changes and breathtaking rainforest scenery. The weekend concludes with a 1 Mile sprint at the historic Warwick Racecourse. Together, the five events total exactly 42.2km—a full marathon distance experienced across diverse terrain and racing styles. Each course showcases the natural beauty of Southern Downs, from rolling farmland to World Heritage-listed wilderness.

Getting There

Warwick is located 160km southwest of Brisbane via the Cunningham Highway, approximately 90 minutes' drive. The event uses multiple venues across the weekend, including Warwick town centre, the airport, and Queen Mary Falls at Killarney (25km from Warwick). Organised transport is provided for the half marathon and Queen Mary Falls events. Street parking is available in Warwick, with specific parking details provided upon registration. Arrive early on race mornings to allow time for check-in and travel to start lines.

Weather & What to Pack

Late May in Southern Downs typically offers ideal running conditions with mild autumn weather. Expect daytime temperatures between 12-20°C, with cooler mornings around 5-10°C, particularly at Queen Mary Falls where elevation increases the chill factor. The region is known for crisp, dry autumn air, though occasional morning fog is possible. Pack layers for early starts and sun protection for the half marathon and airport races. The varied terrain and elevation changes across the weekend mean conditions can differ significantly between events. Stay well hydrated despite the cooler temperatures.
