Choose between the 5km short course or the challenging 12km long course. Expect to get wet and muddy while enjoying stunning natural scenery in Queensland's Pioneer Valley.
Quick Facts
Getting There
The race starts at Finch Hatton RSL on Anzac Parade in Finch Hatton, approximately 65km northwest of Mackay. From Mackay, take the Peak Downs Highway west to Finch Hatton township. Parking is available at the RSL. Arrive by 9:30 AM to allow time for registration and gear preparation. The venue is remote, so plan your journey accordingly and consider carpooling with fellow runners.
Weather & What to Pack
May in Finch Hatton brings mild, pleasant conditions perfect for trail running. Expect daytime temperatures between 15-25°C with low humidity and minimal rainfall. Mornings can be cool, so bring a light layer for the start. Despite the dry season, creek crossings mean you'll get wet regardless. Pack sun protection including a hat and sunscreen, as sections through cane paddocks offer little shade. Bring plenty of water for hydration, especially on the longer 12km course.
