Course Description

Race 9 of the Mandurah Tri Club Summer Series takes place at the stunning Halls Head foreshore. The event features a mass beach or deep water start depending on conditions, with athletes swimming in the calm waters of the Peel-Harvey Estuary. The bike leg follows the scenic coastal roads around Mandurah, offering flat terrain ideal for building speed whilst enjoying ocean views. The run course takes you along the waterfront paths, where the sea breeze and supportive volunteers help carry you to the finish line. This club race provides an excellent opportunity to test your triathlon skills in a friendly, well-organised environment with experienced race support throughout.

Getting There

The race starts at Halls Head Parade, Halls Head, Mandurah. Ample street parking is available along the foreshore and surrounding streets - arrive early to secure a spot close to transition. From Perth, take the Kwinana Freeway south for approximately 75km, then follow signs to Halls Head via Mandurah Terrace. Public transport options include the Mandurah train line with connecting buses. Plan to arrive at least one hour before race start to allow time for registration, transition setup, and warm-up.

Weather & What to Pack

Late March in Mandurah typically brings pleasant late summer conditions with average temperatures ranging from 18-28°C. Expect mostly sunny skies with moderate humidity and a refreshing sea breeze, particularly during the bike and run legs. The water temperature should be comfortable, around 22-24°C. Sunscreen is essential, and a race visor or cap is recommended for the run. The morning start means cooler conditions initially, warming as the race progresses. Hydration is important - the club provides water stations, but consider your nutrition strategy for optimal performance in the warm conditions.

What equipment do I need?

You'll need a roadworthy bike, helmet (mandatory), running shoes, swim gear (goggles, swim cap, wetsuit optional depending on water temperature), and race-appropriate clothing for bike and run legs. Set up all your gear in transition before the race start.

What are the transition procedures?

Bike racks are set up one hour before race start - you can rack your bike anywhere (5 bikes per rack). Set up your swim, bike, and run gear in your transition space, then move your bag outside the transition area. The timing chip goes on your left ankle and stays there until you finish.
