Event Details
Course Description
The Mandurah Tri Club Summer Series offers a welcoming club race atmosphere at Halls Head, Mandurah. This duathlon event features a mass start either on the beach or in the water depending on conditions, followed by bike and run legs through the coastal Mandurah region. The course operates on open roads, so participants must obey all Australian Road Traffic Laws throughout. With generous transition spacing (5 bikes per rack), the event provides a relaxed, community-focused racing experience. The relatively flat coastal terrain makes it an excellent choice for duathletes wanting to test their speed in a supportive club environment.
Getting There
The race starts at Halls Head Parade, Halls Head, located in coastal Mandurah, approximately 75km south of Perth. Free parking is typically available along the foreshore and surrounding streets. Arrive at least 1 hour before race start to help with setup, rack your bike, and complete registration. Registration opens 45 minutes before race start and closes 10 minutes prior, so allow plenty of time.
Weather & What to Pack
March in Mandurah typically brings warm, late-summer conditions with temperatures ranging from 17-29°C. Expect mild mornings with increasing warmth as the day progresses, low humidity, and plenty of sunshine. The coastal location may provide a refreshing sea breeze during the bike and run legs. Apply sunscreen before the race, wear a hat for the run, and ensure adequate hydration throughout the event, particularly as temperatures rise mid-morning.

Official WebsiteFrequently Asked Questions
Can I register on race day?
Yes, but online pre-registration is strongly recommended. Registration lists are printed the night before, so registering on race morning means a slower check-in process. Online registration closes 10 minutes before race start.
What equipment do I need for the duathlon?
You'll need running shoes, a bike in good working order, a helmet (mandatory), and appropriate clothing for both disciplines. Set up your transition area with everything you need for the bike and run legs. Move your bag out of transition once set up.
Where does the timing chip go?
The timing chip goes on your left ankle (away from your bike chain) and stays there until you cross the finish line. Return it to the bucket provided after finishing. If covered by clothing, it may reduce effectiveness.
Are the roads closed during the race?
No, the event operates on open roads without road closures. You must obey all Australian Road Traffic Laws at all times - give way to cars, keep left, and ride with care.
What happens after the race?
Remove your timing chip, pack up your transition gear, and help volunteers dismantle the bike racks. The club often heads out for breakfast afterwards - a great opportunity to connect with fellow triathletes and duathletes.
