Event Details
Course Description
Champion Lakes Regatta Centre provides an ideal, beginner-friendly triathlon venue with its safe, flat course design. The swim leg takes place in the calm lake waters with a convenient beach start and finish, free from waves and currents that can intimidate first-timers. Athletes transition to a fully closed road cycling circuit that loops around the lake, ensuring safety and allowing supporters to cheer from multiple vantage points. The run course follows scenic footpaths around the lake perimeter, offering shade and water stations. The pancake-flat terrain makes this course accessible for all fitness levels, whilst the compact venue layout means athletes can easily navigate between transition areas and supporters can watch multiple segments of the race.
Getting There
Champion Lakes Regatta Centre is located on Henley Drive in Champion Lakes, approximately 30 kilometres southeast of Perth CBD. Ample parking is available both on the island venue and along Henley Drive, though island access closes at 7:15 AM on race day. Arrive before 7:00 AM to collect your race pack and set up transition. Public transport options are limited, so driving or carpooling is recommended. Free parking is provided throughout the venue.
Weather & What to Pack
March in Western Australia typically brings warm, pleasant conditions perfect for triathlon. Expect temperatures ranging from 18-28°C, with early morning starts providing cooler conditions that warm as the day progresses. Perth enjoys relatively low humidity in March with minimal rainfall, though mornings can be slightly dewy. The lake water temperature is typically refreshing but comfortable. Sun protection is essential - apply waterproof sunscreen before the swim and bring a cap for the run. Hydration is important, particularly for longer distances, though the mild conditions are ideal for multisport racing.

Official WebsiteFrequently Asked Questions
Is this event really just for women?
The triathlon distances (Mini, Enticer, Long Course) and Duathlon are exclusively for women and girls, including those who identify as female. However, the Kids Triathlon and 5km Fun Run are open to all genders, so boys and men can participate in those events.
I've never done a triathlon before - which distance should I choose?
The Mini distance (100m swim, 6.5km bike, 1km run) is perfect for first-timers aged 10+, whilst the Enticer (250m swim, 11.5km bike, 2.5km run) suits those with a bit more fitness. If swimming isn't your strength, try the Duathlon which replaces the swim with a run. The supportive atmosphere and flat course make this ideal for triathlon debuts.
What's included in my entry fee?
All entries include a race pack, timed race result (Kids Tri is untimed), a tutu to wear during the race, a finisher medal, finish line photo, and support from volunteers and staff. You'll also be contributing to Australian charities Share the Dignity and Little Things for Tiny Tots.
Do I need my own bike and wetsuit?
You'll need your own bike (road bike, mountain bike, or hybrid all work) and helmet, which is mandatory. A wetsuit is optional as the lake swim is calm and typically warm in March. The event website provides guidance on equipment requirements if you're new to triathlon.
What time should I arrive on race day?
Pack pickup and transition open at 6:15 AM, and pack pickup closes at 7:10 AM - all athletes must have collected their packs by then. Arrive by 6:30 AM to allow plenty of time for parking, pack collection, and setting up your transition area without rushing. Island parking closes at 7:15 AM.
