Event Details
Course Description
The Tan Track winds beside the Royal Botanic Gardens and offers sweeping views of Melbourne’s skyline. Runners tackle a flat, 400‑metre synthetic circuit for either 3.8km (10 laps) or 7.7km (19 laps), with drink stations placed roughly every 2.5km. The evening ambience is enhanced by live acoustic sets and a vibrant event village. The course is well‑lit, easy to follow and finishes back at the central finish line where post‑race massages and a Sunset Bar await.
Getting There
The Tan Track is located on Linlithgow Avenue in Melbourne’s parklands. Public transport is recommended – trains and buses drop you at the venue, and trams (routes 3/3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67, 72) run from Flinders Street Station down St Kilda Road to Grant Street. Limited car parking is available on St Kilda Road, Birdwood Avenue and Boathouse Drive; allow extra time for parking. Bike racks are provided on‑site. Check the official website for the latest transport and parking details.
Weather & What to Pack
March is autumn in Melbourne, with average highs around 20 °C and lows near 10 °C. Expect mild evenings, occasional light rain and comfortable humidity. Dress in layers – a light jacket or long‑sleeve top over a breathable shirt works well. A hat or headband can help with the setting sun, and a pair of gloves may be useful if it gets chilly. Stay hydrated, but you’ll likely need less water than in summer; a small bottle or the on‑course drink stations will suffice.
