Course Description

The Upper Beaconsfield Tower Run offers a scenic and challenging course through the rolling hills of Upper Beaconsfield, taking runners to the iconic water tower that gives the event its name. The course follows quiet, mainly unsealed roads with each 6.5km loop featuring approximately 180 metres of elevation gain. Participants can choose single, double, or triple loops (plus an extended half marathon distance), all starting and finishing near the rotunda at Charing Cross Reserve. The undulating to hilly terrain winds through picturesque streets and trails, providing a genuine test of endurance whilst showcasing the natural beauty of this Victorian township. Fresh fruit from Montague Farms is provided throughout the course to keep runners fuelled.

Getting There

The race starts and finishes near the rotunda at Charing Cross Reserve in the heart of Upper Beaconsfield. Upper Beaconsfield is located approximately 50km southeast of Melbourne's CBD, accessible via the Princes Freeway (M1) and Beaconsfield-Emerald Road. The venue address is 10-12 Salisbury Road, Upper Beaconsfield 3808. Parking is available in the township, though arrive early as the event coincides with the Upper Beaconsfield Village Festival. Aim to arrive at least 30-45 minutes before your race start time for bib collection and pre-race briefings.

Weather & What to Pack

Mid-February in Victoria typically brings warm to hot summer conditions, with average temperatures ranging from 14-26°C. Upper Beaconsfield's elevation may provide slightly cooler conditions than Melbourne, but expect warm weather with the half marathon starting at 7:20 AM to beat the heat. Early morning humidity can be moderate. Sun protection is essential - wear a cap, apply sunscreen, and consider sunglasses. Hydration is critical given the hilly course and summer conditions. Lightweight, breathable running gear is recommended. Check the forecast in the days leading up to the event, as summer weather can be variable.
