Course Description
The Semaphore Coastal Running Festival takes you along Adelaide's iconic coastal strip, starting from the historic Esplanade at Semaphore. Runners experience flat, fast courses on sealed paths hugging the stunning Gulf St Vincent coastline. The marathon route showcases the best of Adelaide's western beaches, passing through Semaphore, Grange, and neighbouring coastal suburbs. With minimal elevation change and smooth surfaces, it's an excellent course for both first-timers chasing a PB and experienced runners. The fun run offers a shorter coastal experience perfect for families and casual runners. Ocean views, sea breezes, and the relaxed beach atmosphere create an unforgettable running experience.
Quick Facts
Getting There
Semaphore is located approximately 20km northwest of Adelaide CBD. Drive via Port Road or take the Grange/Semaphore tram from the city (terminus at Semaphore). Street parking is available along The Esplanade and surrounding streets, though it fills quickly on race day. Arrive at least 45-60 minutes before your race start to allow time for parking, bib collection, and warm-up. Public facilities and cafes are readily available along the foreshore.
Weather & What to Pack
Mid-February in Adelaide typically brings warm summer conditions with temperatures ranging from 18-28°C. Expect sunny skies and coastal sea breezes that can provide welcome relief, though winds may pick up later in the morning. Humidity is generally moderate. Start early to avoid peak heat, wear light-coloured, breathable clothing, and apply sunscreen generously. Hydration is critical - drink plenty before, during, and after the race. A hat or visor is recommended for sun protection on this exposed coastal course.
