Course Description

The Roo Run showcases the stunning Surf Coast scenery through a diverse course that takes runners along coastal hinterland trails, hard-packed sand, and the picturesque river precinct at Point Roadknight. All events start and finish at the AMYC boat ramp, with the 8km course offering the full coastal experience, whilst the 4km route captures the most scenic sections. The Grommets Gallop follows a 1.6km beach route from the boat ramp to The Point and back, looping around the Coastal Walk. The terrain combines beach running with trail sections, providing a unique bucket-list summer running experience. The Surf n Turf Challenge adds a 1.2km ocean swim component in partnership with Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club, testing runners' versatility across disciplines.

Getting There

Point Roadknight is located in Anglesea on Victoria's Surf Coast, approximately 90 minutes drive from Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road. Head towards Anglesea township and follow signs to Point Roadknight. Parking is available near the boat ramp and surrounding streets. Registration opens from 3:30 PM the day before the event for race pack collection. Arrive early on race morning as parking fills quickly during the summer holiday period. The venue is well-signposted from the main Anglesea township.

Weather & What to Pack

Late December in coastal Victoria brings warm summer conditions with temperatures typically ranging from 15-28°C. Morning starts can be mild, warming quickly as the day progresses. Expect bright sunshine with potential for sea breezes, which provide natural cooling along the exposed beach sections. The coastal location offers some relief from inland heat, but humidity can be moderate. Wear light, breathable running gear and a cap for sun protection. Hydrate well before and during the event, particularly for the 8km distance. Sunscreen is essential for this summer holiday period race.
