Course Description

Based at the world-class Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith, this aquathon and triathlon course offers a spectacular lakeside setting with calm water conditions ideal for swimmers of all abilities. The swim takes place in the regatta's pristine rowing course, providing protected conditions without currents or waves. The bike course utilises the flat, purpose-built paths surrounding the facility, perfect for fast times and safe cycling. The run course follows scenic lakeside trails with minimal elevation change, allowing competitors to push their pace. As part of Australia's largest club race series, the event caters to everyone from 7-year-old first-timers to experienced age-groupers, with multiple distance options ensuring there's a challenge suited to every fitness level and age group.

Getting There

Sydney International Regatta Centre is located at Penrith Lakes, approximately 55km west of Sydney CBD. By car, take the M4 Motorway to Castlereagh Road exit, then follow signs to the Regatta Centre. Ample free parking is available on-site. By public transport, catch a train to Penrith Station, then take a taxi or rideshare (approximately 10 minutes). Arrive at least 60-90 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow for registration, transition setup, and warm-up.

Weather & What to Pack

Mid-December in Western Sydney typically brings warm to hot conditions, with temperatures ranging from 18-30°C. Early morning starts at 8:00 AM help competitors avoid the peak heat, though temperatures can still climb quickly. Expect high humidity levels and strong UV radiation, as summer is well underway. Sun protection is essential - apply waterproof sunscreen before the swim and reapply during transition. Hydrate thoroughly in the days leading up to the event and take advantage of all on-course water stations. Light, breathable race clothing and a hat for post-race are recommended.

Can I register on race day?

While online pre-registration is strongly encouraged, check the official Hills Triathlon Club website or Race Result registration page for late entry availability. Pre-registration typically closes a few days before the event.

Are there age restrictions?

The event welcomes all ages with specific distances for juniors: 7-9yo (75m/2.5km/500m), 10-11yo (100m/5km/1km), and 12yo categories. Adults can compete in Enticer or Sprint distances, with no upper age limit.

What happens after I finish?

Results are posted promptly via Race Result, with full splits for each leg.
