Course Description

The festival courses wind through the purpose‑built Stromlo Forest Park trail system. Runners start on gentle forest paths before tackling the iconic "Mother" – the summit of Mt Stromlo – which offers panoramic views of Canberra and the Brindabella Ranges. The 30km route adds multiple ascents and a total climb of 860 m, while the shorter 5km and 10km loops stay on mixed‑terrain tracks with rolling hills. All routes are well‑marked, marshalled and feature a mix of fire‑trail, gravel and natural surface, delivering both scenic beauty and a solid challenge for all abilities.

Getting There

Stromlo Forest Park is 10 km west of Canberra’s CBD. From the city, follow the Federal Highway to the Stromlo round‑about and turn onto Stromlo Drive. The venue offers 487 paid parking spaces plus a free 15‑minute drop‑off zone. Bus routes 30 and 31 stop at the park entrance, and a shuttle runs from Canberra station on race day. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your wave to collect your bib and shirt.

Weather & What to Pack

November in Canberra is spring. Expect daytime highs around 23 °C and overnight lows near 10 °C, with low to moderate humidity and plenty of sunshine. Light jackets or long‑sleeve shirts for early‑morning runs are advisable, and a hat or sunscreen for the midday sun. Carry at least 500 ml of water; the weather can shift quickly, so a light rain jacket is a smart addition.
