About This Event
Trail run on beautiful, undiscovered trails around Yandina. Courses go through Mapleton National Park across bubbling creeks, past stunning lookouts and challenging hilly terrain.
Course Description
The Yandina Five 'O' takes runners through stunning trails around Yandina in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. All four distances—50km, 36km, 21km, and 12km—wind through Mapleton National Park and select private land, offering a true trail running experience. Expect to cross bubbling creeks, tackle challenging hilly terrain, and be rewarded with spectacular lookouts along the way. The courses are marked with reflective orange flagging tape and red directional arrows, ensuring clear navigation through the undiscovered trails. The name Yandina means 'to go on foot' in the local Indigenous language, making this event a fitting tribute to the area's heritage. Starting and finishing at Terella Brewing adds a unique touch, where runners can celebrate with craft beer and food post-race.
Quick Facts
Getting There

Run Queensland provides a free courtesy bus service from the parking area to the start/finish venue, beginning at 4:30 AM on race day. Arrive early to allow time for bus transfer and race sign-on, which opens at 5:00 AM. The venue is approximately 20 minutes from Nambour and 30 minutes from Maroochydore in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Weather & What to Pack
June in the Sunshine Coast hinterland brings mild winter conditions with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 12-22°C. Morning starts can be cool, especially for the 6:00 AM ultra distance, so layers are recommended. The area can experience morning fog and occasional winter rain, though June is generally drier than summer months. Humidity is lower than coastal areas, but the forested trails provide shade and shelter. Bring sun protection for exposed sections and pack extra layers in your drop bag for the 50km. Hydration remains critical despite cooler temperatures.
