Course Description

The Lamington Classic winds along the historic Border Track between O'Reilly's Guest House and Binna Burra Resort, traversing dense rainforest, creek crossings and exposed roots on a Class 4 walking track. The 21.3 km one‑way route offers spectacular lookouts and moderate climbs, while the 42.195 km double‑cross adds a return leg and a mandatory 3‑minute stop at O'Reilly's for hydration and safety. Expect variable track width, muddy sections, steep grades and occasional overgrown vines. The course is measured with a steel wheel, so GPS readings may be off under the canopy. Runners must be self‑reliant, carry sufficient fluid (1 L for the marathon, 600 ml for the half) and be prepared for changing forest weather.

Getting There

The race starts at O'Reilly's Guest House (21.3 km) and Binna Burra Resort (Marathon). Parking is limited; participants are advised to check the official website for the latest parking and transport information and to arrive early to allow time for registration and briefing.

Weather & What to Pack

September is spring in Queensland, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 15 °C to 25 °C and moderate humidity. Expect a mix of sunshine and occasional showers in the rainforest. Dress in breathable layers, bring a lightweight waterproof jacket, a hat and sunscreen, and carry enough water (600 ml–1 L) for the distance.
