Course Description
The race takes place on the picturesque Black Mountain Peninsula overlooking Lake Burley Griffin. Competitors start with a 250‑metre (or 200‑metre) swim in the lake, transition to a flat, paved run of 2.5 km (or 2 km) along the peninsula’s shoreline path, then repeat the swim and run. The short course and kids options offer a gentler challenge, while the long course tests endurance and transition skill. Spectators enjoy stunning lake views and the backdrop of Black Mountain, making the evening race both a visual and athletic delight.

The event is held at Black Mountain Peninsula on Garryowen Drive in Acton, ACT. When does registration close and are there early‑bird discounts?
Online entries close on 20 January 2027 at 00:00 AEDT. Early‑bird pricing is applied automatically at checkout for registrations made before 31 October 2026.
Can I register on the day of the race?
Yes, on‑the‑day registration is available from 4 pm to 5 pm, but it will be at a higher price than the online rates.
What gear do I need for the aquathlon?
You will need a swimsuit, swim cap and goggles for the swim legs, and appropriate running shoes for the run legs. A wetsuit is optional depending on water temperature. Bring a water bottle and consider a hat or sunscreen for sun protection.
What is the refund policy if I need to cancel?
Cancellations more than 42 days before the event receive a full refund. Between 42 days and 14 days, you receive a 50 % refund. Within 14 days of the event, a 20 % refund is provided. See the ACT Triathlon Refund and Postponement Policy for full details.
When does the race start and how are the legs structured?
All categories start at 4:00 pm. The long course consists of a 250 m swim, 2.5 km run, another 250 m swim and a final 2.5 km run. The short course uses 200 m swim and 2 km run legs, with similar repeats.
