Course Description

The race starts on the paved promenade of Churchill Park, following the foreshore trail that hugs the Indian Ocean. Runners can stay on the sealed path or, for the 5km and 10km options, divert onto a short iconic beach leg where sand underfoot adds a fun challenge. The loop returns to the park’s open green space for a flat, fast finish. With sea breezes, panoramic coastal views and a mix of firm road and soft sand, the course is both scenic and accessible, making it ideal for families, beginners and seasoned runners alike. The early morning start ensures pleasant temperatures, and the route is fully marked with volunteers at key points. Spectators can watch from the park’s lawns or the beachfront promenade.

Getting There

The event is held at Churchill Park on the Rockingham Foreshore in the suburb of Rockingham, Western Australia. Parking is available in the park’s designated car‑parks; for detailed maps and any public‑transport options, please check the official event page. We recommend arriving early to collect your bib and warm‑up before the 7:35 am start.

Weather & What to Pack

April in Western Australia is autumn, with mild daytime temperatures typically ranging from 15 °C to 22 °C and cooler evenings around 12 °C. Expect low to moderate humidity and occasional sea breezes along the coast. Dress in layers – a light long‑sleeve shirt, breathable shorts or leggings, and a wind‑proof jacket if it feels chilly. Bring a small water bottle; the cooler weather means you’ll need less hydration than in summer, but stay hydrated.

A late‑registration penalty applies from the Saturday before the event for non‑members. Fees are $0 for the 300 m, $50 for 5 km, $60 for 10 km. Check the official site for payment details.

Can I change my chosen distance after I’ve registered?

If you need to change the distance you have entered, you must notify the WAMC office by 12:00 pm (midday) on Thursday 15 April 2027. No changes are accepted after this cut‑off.

Can I register on the day of the race?

No – on‑the‑day entries are not accepted for this major event unless the official event guide states otherwise. All participants must be registered beforehand.

Is there a bag drop and what should I bring?

A bag drop will be provided at the start/finish area. You may leave personal items there, but the club is not responsible for lost or stolen goods. Bring a small, lightweight water bottle and your race bib.

What gear should I wear for the beach leg and autumn weather?
