Course Description
The Mother’s Day Run winds its way through the coastal beauty of Star Swamp Bushland Reserve in North Beach. Both the 5 km and 10 km distances follow sealed, well‑maintained roads and pathways that skirt the reserve’s native dunes and provide occasional glimpses of the Indian Ocean. The course is predominantly flat with gentle undulations, making it fast and accessible for runners of all abilities. Turn‑around points are clearly marked, and the route loops back to the start‑finish area, allowing participants to enjoy the fresh sea breeze while staying on a smooth surface. Spectators can line the path along the main track, creating a supportive atmosphere for families and friends.
Getting There
Star Swamp Bushland Reserve is located in the coastal suburb of North Beach, about 16 km north of Perth’s CBD. The venue is accessible via the Mitchell Freeway and Reid Highway. Parking is available on site; check the official MAWA website for details on parking fees and public transport options. Arrive early to allow time for registration and warm‑up.
Weather & What to Pack
May is autumn in Western Australia, bringing mild to cool conditions along the coast. Expect daytime highs of 18‑22 °C and evenings around 12‑15 °C, with low humidity and occasional breezes from the Indian Ocean. Dress in layers – a breathable shirt, a light jacket or fleece, and a hat for sun protection. A pair of good running shoes and a water bottle are advisable, as temperatures can vary throughout the morning.
