Course Description

The race loops around the Tan Track, a smooth, paved circuit that circles the Melbourne Botanic Gardens. Runners will pass the historic Pillars of Wisdom at each lap, enjoying shaded tree canopies, lake views and well‑maintained paths. The 11‑lap marathon totals about 42.1 km, while shorter solo options cover 3 or 11.5 km. Drink stations every 2 km provide electrolytes and water, and chip timing ensures accurate lap counts. The flat, traffic‑free course is ideal for personal bests and team strategy.

Getting There

The start line is at the Pillars of Wisdom on the Tan Track, just off Alexandra Avenue. Limited on‑site parking is available at the Gardens' car park (free for race participants). Public transport options include tram route 86 (stop: Botanic Gardens) and train to Richmond Station, followed by a short walk. Arrive by 6:30 am to collect your bib and baton.

Weather & What to Pack

November is spring in Victoria, bringing mild temperatures (15‑22 °C) and occasional light showers. Expect mostly sunny skies with moderate humidity. Dress in breathable layers – a short‑sleeve shirt, a light jacket for early morning chill, and a hat or visor. Stay hydrated; the on‑course drink stations will help keep you cool.
