Course Description

The GPT100 Miler follows the full 162km spine of the Grampians Peaks Trail from Mt Zero in the north to Dunkeld in the south, climbing and descending roughly 7,700m over sandstone slabs, stairs and technical rocky outcrops. Runners pass the Taipan Wall, Pinnacles Lookout, Mount Rosea, the Seven Dials and Redmans Bluff before a brutal final stretch over Mud-Dadjug/Mt Abrupt and Wurgarri/Mt Sturgeon into Dunkeld. Eleven aid stations support the route. The same trail network hosts three shorter linked events on this listing: the GPT50K (Mt Zero to Halls Gap), the GPT33 (the final southern peaks section into Dunkeld) and the Dunkeld 2km/5km community trail runs, all run across the same November long weekend.

Getting There

The basecamp is at Halls Gap Centenary Hall on Grams Road. From Melbourne, take the Western Highway (M8) north‑west for ~260 km; Halls Gap is well sign‑posted. Free on‑site parking is available at the hall. Limited shuttle buses run from the town centre on race days. Arrive at least two hours before your start to collect your bib and gear.

Weather & What to Pack

November is late spring in the Grampians, with mild days averaging 18-22°C and cool mornings around 10-12°C. Weather on the exposed ridgelines can change quickly, with sun exposure, wind and occasional showers all possible over the course of the multi-day event. Layered clothing, a waterproof jacket and sun protection are essential, and the mandatory gear list reflects this variability. Carry adequate water and electrolytes, especially on the longer distances where aid stations are widely spaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does registration close?

Priority entry opened 3 February 2026, with standard entry from 5 February. Late entry (a higher fee) opens midnight 8 October 2026, and entries close midnight 29 October 2026.

What mandatory gear is required?

Requirements vary by race but draw from a shared kit list that includes liquid storage, a water filter, a fully charged phone, offline mapping, a snake bite bandage, waterproof jacket and pants, thermal layers, warm headwear and gloves, an emergency bivvy bag and survival blanket, a working torch with spare batteries and emergency food. The full checklist per race is published on the event's Mandatory Gear page.

Is there an overall cut-off for the 100 Miler?

Yes - the GPT100 Miler (Solo and Pairs) has a 50-hour cut-off, finishing by 10am Sunday in Dunkeld from an 8am Friday start. Aid-station-by-aid-station splits for 2026 had not yet been finalised as at time of writing; check the event's Cut-Offs page closer to race day.

What's included with entry to the shorter GPT33 and GPT50K races?

Both are supported ultra distances on the same Grampians Peaks Trail: the GPT50K runs the northern section from Mt Zero to Halls Gap, while the GPT33 covers the final southern section into Dunkeld, taking in Mt Abrupt, Signal Peak and Mt Sturgeon. Standard entry is $350 for the GPT50K and $250 for the GPT33.

Are the Dunkeld 2km and 5km trail runs suitable for families?

Yes - the Dunkeld 2km Junior Trail and 5km Family Trail are shorter community events held on the Sunday in Dunkeld, the race's finish town, designed to let local families take part alongside the main event.
