Course Description

The race begins near the sound shell and the historic Azelia Ley Homestead, then winds through native bushland trails of Manning Park. Runners tackle the steep 192‑step Manning Stairs, rewarding themselves with panoramic ocean vistas, before descending onto loose‑gravel tracks. The 5km course loops back to the start, while the 10km adds an extra trail loop and a second stair climb. Both routes finish at the original start‑finish area, offering a mix of gentle undulations and challenging climbs.

Getting There

From Perth CBD head south on the Kwinana Freeway, exit onto Armadale Road and turn onto Azelia Road. Follow signs to the Manning Park car park at the top of the road – parking is free. Arrive by 7:30 am to collect your bib. Public transport: Transperth bus routes 511/512 to Cockburn Central, then a short walk to the park.

Weather & What to Pack

October is spring in Western Australia. Expect mild to warm days with temperatures typically between 15 °C and 22 °C, low to moderate humidity and plenty of sunshine, though a light breeze or occasional shower is possible. Dress in layers – a breathable shirt, light jacket, and a hat or visor. Wear sunscreen and stay hydrated, but you won’t need heavy winter gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for the race?

Register online via the event website before the early‑bird cut‑off (5 May). If you miss the online window, you can still sign up on race day for a $35 adult fee.

When and where do I pick up my race bib and timing chip?

Bib and chip collection opens at 7:00 am at the start/finish area near the old toilets and sound shell. Arrive early to avoid queues.

Can I bring a dog or a stroller?

Dogs are allowed only for the Lake Walk, not the trail run, and must be on a leash. Strollers are welcome for the 5km walk‑run, but keep them on the paved sections.

What should I bring on race day?

Bring your bib, a water bottle (water stations are provided), sunscreen, a hat, and a light jacket. Leave larger bags in the event marquee, which is staffed throughout the day.
