About This Event
Run the scenic Barwon Valley Park Half Marathon or family‑friendly 5 km on 4 April 2027. A flat, riverside course supports the Andrew Love Cancer Centre and welcomes all abilities.
Course Description
The course follows the picturesque Barwon River, starting at Barwon Valley Park in Belmont. Runners head north along the river promenade to the historic Breakwater, then turn inland toward Fyansford before looping back to the start. The route is entirely on sealed roads, flat and well‑marked, offering river views, parkland trees and occasional open‑water bridges. With no major hills, it’s ideal for personal bests, charity runs or a relaxed family outing. Aid stations are positioned every 5 km, and the finish line is under the James Harrison Bridge pavilion.
Quick Facts
Getting There
From Geelong CBD, take the Princes Freeway (M1) north to the Belmont exit, then follow signs to Barwon Valley Park. Parking is free in the park's dedicated lot (≈10‑15 min walk to start). V/Line trains stop at Belmont; a short shuttle or 10‑minute walk brings you to the start line. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to collect your bib and warm‑up.
Weather & What to Pack
April is autumn in Victoria, with cool mornings and mild afternoons. Expect temperatures between 8‑15 °C, occasional light rain and moderate humidity. Dress in layers – a moisture‑wicking base, a light jacket, and a hat or gloves for early start chill. Wear breathable shoes and stay hydrated; a water bottle at aid stations should suffice.
