Course Description
The Afterglow course follows the scenic Surf Coast Walk, starting at Point Addis and winding down to Fisherman’s Beach in Torquay. Runners enjoy a mixed surface of well‑maintained trail, sandy beach stretches (including Bells Beach and Fisherman’s Beach) and short bitumen sections. The route is fully sign‑posted with glow sticks and colour‑coded markers, offering water stations at Jarosite Road, Boobs Surf Beach car‑park and the finish line. With gentle coastal climbs and spectacular ocean views, the race is challenging yet accessible for all abilities.
Getting There
The race hub is at Fisherman’s Beach on The Esplanade, Torquay. Parking is available near the beachfront and at nearby streets. A shuttle bus departs Torquay for the start line; details are provided on the official site. Arrive early to collect your bib and check the event website for the latest transport and parking information.

Weather & What to Pack
December in Victoria is early summer, with daytime highs around 21 °C and overnight lows near 13 °C. Expect mild sunshine and occasional breezes off Bass Strait. Dress in light, breathable layers and bring a warm jacket for the evening chill. Sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water are essential, even in the cooler night hours.

When can I cancel my entry and get a refund?
Cancellations must be received by midnight 6 Nov 2026. A refund is issued less a $15‑$30 admin fee. No refunds are given after this date, even with a medical certificate.
What gear is mandatory on race day?
A headtorch is compulsory for the entire race. Runners must wear their bib on the outermost garment and are encouraged to carry a water bottle or hydration pack. No cup service is provided – bring your own drink container.
Are there cut‑off times?
Yes. The first 21 km wave has a 3.5‑hour cut‑off, the second wave 3 hours. All distances must pass the 10:30 PM overall cut‑off at the 3 km‑to‑go mark, otherwise you’ll be recorded as DNF.
Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
Entries can be transferred to another person. Email the organisers with the new participant’s details (name, DOB, contact, emergency contact, medical info, and chosen distance). No refunds are provided for downgrades.
What transport options are available?
A shuttle bus runs from Torquay to the start line for 21 km and 13 km runners. Public trains run to Geelong (Spencer St) and V/Line buses connect to Torquay. Check the official website for exact schedules and parking information.
