Course Description

Run The River takes participants on a scenic journey along Brisbane's iconic river. The 100km ultra events start Friday evening at 5pm from Queensland Maritime Museum in South Brisbane, with runners having until 8am Saturday to complete their challenge. The flat, urban riverside course follows dedicated paths and boardwalks, offering spectacular city skyline views under lights before transitioning to sunrise over the water. The Sunday morning events (half marathon, 10km, 5km, and kids dash) start at Brett's Wharf Plaza in Hamilton, showcasing Brisbane's beautiful northern riverfront. The primarily flat terrain on paved surfaces makes this accessible for walkers and runners alike, though the overnight ultra distance presents a significant endurance challenge. Aid stations provide regular support throughout the course.

Getting There

Queensland Maritime Museum is located at 412 Stanley Street, South Brisbane, accessible via South Bank train station (10-minute walk) or South Bank bus terminals. Street parking is available on Stanley Street and surrounding areas, with paid parking at South Bank Parklands car parks. For Sunday events, Brett's Wharf Plaza at 449A Kingsford Smith Drive, Hamilton is accessible via Kingsford Smith Drive with on-site parking available. Arrive at least 30-45 minutes before your start time for race number collection and warm-up.

Weather & What to Pack

Early May in Brisbane brings pleasant autumn conditions, ideal for running. Expect overnight temperatures around 15-18°C for the Friday evening ultra start, warming to 20-24°C by Saturday morning. The Sunday morning events will see similar comfortable temperatures. Humidity is moderate but can still be present near the river. The overnight ultra runners should bring layers for cooler pre-dawn hours. Sun protection is essential for daylight hours, even in autumn. Pack a light jacket for the ultra events and bring plenty of hydration as Queensland's climate remains warm year-round.
