Course Description

The race takes place on a flat, scenic loop that starts and finishes at the historic Pirra Homestead within Serendip Sanctuary. The course follows open trails that wind through native bushland, offering glimpses of local wildlife and lush vegetation. With no steep climbs, the 10km and 5km routes are ideal for steady pacing, while the 1km Kids Dash provides a safe, short circuit for youngsters. The trail is closed to the public for the day, giving participants a rare, uninterrupted nature experience.

Getting There

The event is held at Serendip Sanctuary on Windermere Road in Lara. Secure off‑road parking is provided directly opposite the entrance, less than 100 m to the start/finish line. Weather & What to Pack

December is summer in Victoria, with typical daytime highs between 25‑30 °C and occasional warmer spikes. Expect plenty of sunshine, low to moderate humidity and a chance of brief afternoon showers. Wear breathable, light‑coloured clothing, a hat and sunscreen, and stay well hydrated before and during the race. A reusable water bottle is recommended.

How do I register for the Lara Fun Run?

Registration is online via the PB Events or Race Roster website. Early entries (by 19 Oct) can include a personalised bib. Entry fees are not listed here – check the official website for current pricing.

When should I arrive on race day?

Registration closes at 7:50 am. Bibs can be collected from 7:00 am at the marquee and secure bag storage opens at 7:30 am. Arriving early gives you time for parking, bag drop and warm‑up.

What should I bring on race day?

Wear comfortable running shoes and breathable clothing, bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle. Headphones are allowed at a low volume. Pets are not permitted on the course.

Can children take part in the event?

Yes – the 1 km Kids Dash is free and open to children; a parent may run alongside for free. Kids can also join the 5 km walk with an adult, but they will not receive a timing chip.

Is parking available at the venue?
