About This Event
Masters Athletics WA (MAWA) hosts weekly running and walking events across Perth for athletes aged 30 and over. Events are free for members ($5 for non-members) and feature multiple distances to suit all abilities. Start time is typically 7:30am (winter) or 8:00am (summer) with results based on age-graded handicap times.
Course Description
The Perry Lakes run takes place at the historic Perry Lakes Reserve in Floreat, a popular training venue for Perth's running community. The courses follow flat, sealed paths around the reserve's perimeter and through the surrounding parklands, making this an ideal venue for personal bests. Runners enjoy tree-lined sections providing welcome shade, with the 3.5km course perfect for beginners or those returning from injury. The 7km and 10.5km distances offer progressively longer challenges whilst maintaining the same accessible, traffic-free environment. The courses are well-marked and marshalled, with the supportive Masters Athletics WA community creating a welcoming atmosphere for runners of all abilities.

Weather & What to Pack
April in Perth typically offers ideal autumn running conditions with mild temperatures ranging from 13-25°C. Mornings at 7am are usually cool and comfortable, perfect for faster times. Expect low humidity and minimal rainfall, though occasional light showers are possible. The early start means you'll avoid the warmest part of the day. Dress in light layers you can remove, wear sunscreen, and bring a water bottle. The tree-lined sections provide some shade, but sun protection is still recommended.
