About This Event

Running/multisport event in South Australia.

Course Description

The Adelaide 24 Hour Festival takes place on a 2.175km measured loop around War Memorial Drive in Park 10 Warnpangga, North Adelaide. This flat, accessible circuit is perfect for timed ultramarathon events, allowing runners and walkers to complete as many laps as possible within their chosen time limit. The course features one aid station per lap, electronic timing, and excellent crew access throughout. While the road surface makes it ineligible for IAU labelling, the course is AIMs-measured and AUTRA-listed. The loop format means participants can strategically plan their effort, take breaks as needed, and have constant support from crew and volunteers. Whether you're aiming for a personal distance record or simply testing your endurance, the predictable course removes navigational stress and lets you focus purely on your performance.

Weather & What to Pack

June in Adelaide brings mild winter conditions with average daytime temperatures ranging from 11-16°C. Overnight temperatures during the 24 Hour event can drop to 7-9°C, so participants in longer distances should prepare for significant temperature variation. The weather can be unpredictable, with potential for rain showers and wind. Dress in layers for shorter distances, and bring warm clothing, waterproof gear, and a headlamp for overnight sections if competing in the 12 or 24 Hour events. The event has a comprehensive bad weather policy and will reschedule if temperatures exceed 35°C, though this is unlikely in winter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a timed ultramarathon work?

Instead of running a set distance, you complete as many laps as possible within your chosen time limit (3, 6, 12, or 24 hours). Your result is the total distance you cover. You can run, walk, or take breaks - you decide where your finish line is.

Can I have crew support during the race?

Yes! Crews are welcome and can set up from 5:00 PM on Friday evening. The loop format provides excellent crew access throughout the event. Crews can provide food, drinks, gear changes, and moral support at your personal aid station.

What facilities are available on course?

The event provides one official aid station per lap, electronic timing, portable toilets, first aid support, and finisher medals. There's also food and drink available, with the schedule including sandwiches and soup service throughout the event.

What's the refund policy if I need to withdraw?

Cancellations more than 28 days before the event receive a refund minus an admin fee. Within 28 days, entries are non-refundable unless you purchase optional 'refund protection' at registration, which provides full refunds up to 24 hours before the event.

Is this event suitable for first-time ultrarunners?

The 3 Hour distance is perfect for beginners wanting to try timed running, while the 6 Hour is achievable for those with some distance running experience. The supportive atmosphere, loop format, and ability to stop at any time make it less intimidating than traditional ultras.
