On-site parking is available for $10 per vehicle (cash or card accepted at the gate), with special areas for mini-buses and coaches. Reception may be limited, so screenshot your confirmation email or bring a paper copy.
Weather & What to Pack
March in NSW typically brings warm late-summer conditions with temperatures ranging from 18-26°C. The Hawkesbury region can be humid, especially in the morning, with a mix of sun and occasional showers. The course's rainforest and exposed grassland sections mean you'll experience varying conditions throughout. Wear moisture-wicking clothing that provides protection - long pants or leggings and long socks are strongly recommended for obstacle navigation. Despite the morning start, you'll warm up quickly on course. Bring a water bladder or hydration pack, as stations are available but spaced throughout the challenging terrain.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear to True Grit NSW?
Long pants or leggings and long socks are strongly recommended for comfort and protection during obstacles. Running or hiking shoes are sufficient. Keep clothing light and moisture-wicking as you'll warm up during the course. Water bladders help you stay hydrated between stations.
Can I participate if I'm not super fit?
Yes! True Grit events are designed to be completed at a basic fitness level. The 5km course is open to ages 12+ and great for beginners. You can join the Black Dog Wave at 9:20 AM to meet other participants and tackle obstacles together with encouragement and mateship throughout.
What happens if I can't complete an obstacle?
All obstacles are designed to be achievable, and teammates can help you through. Elite wave participants have a 20-burpee penalty for failed or skipped obstacles, but recreational participants can move on. The focus is on testing your grit and having fun, not perfection.
What's included in my entry fee?
Your registration includes access to the full obstacle course, water stations during the event, a finisher t-shirt, Staminade electrolyte drink on completion, and access to medical treatment if needed. Bag drop is available for a gold coin donation on event day.
How do team entries work?
You can create a team and invite friends, family, or gym crew to join the adventure together. Teams can cheer each other on and help with harder obstacles. If you don't have a team, sign up for the Black Dog Wave to meet like-minded participants and tackle the course together.
