Course Description

The race kicks off with a 400 m open‑water swim from the east side of Altona Pier, looping around marked buoys before returning to transition. Cyclists then tackle a 12 km bike leg – two laps along the Esplanade, over the Kororoit Creek bridge and back to the start area. The final 3 km run follows the scenic Altona foreshore path, heading east, turning at Bent Street and returning to the finish line. Expect sea breezes, flat roads and stunning waterfront views throughout.

Getting There

The event is held at Altona Beach Foreshore in the suburb of Altona, about 13 km southwest of Melbourne CBD. Public transport and parking options are available nearby, but details vary. Please check the official WSTC website for the latest parking information and public‑transport routes, and aim to arrive with enough time to set up your gear in the transition area.

Weather & What to Pack

February is summer in Victoria, with typical daytime highs of 22‑30 °C and pleasant sea breezes. Expect sunny or partly cloudy skies and moderate humidity. Dress in a breathable swim suit, a light top and shorts for the bike, and bring a hat, sunglasses and plenty of water. A wetsuit is optional for the short 400 m swim, but a sun‑protective layer is advisable.
