Course Description

Athletes launch from the Scarness foreshore, swimming anti‑clockwise out of the beach access opposite Maddigans. The 20km bike loop runs the Esplanade between Torquay and Gatakers Bay, featuring the iconic Gatakers Hill and eight passes through the transition zone for great spectator viewing. The run consists of three 6km laps on the Esplanade pathway, weaving past the sailing club, Seafront Oval and race expo, before finishing back at Scarness Park. Aid stations, a recovery tent and medical support are positioned throughout the course.

Getting There

Scarness Park is a short walk from Hervey Bay’s central bus station. Free on‑site parking is limited; $10‑$15 per car in the nearby municipal car parks. Trains arrive at Hervey Bay station (about 10 km north) with shuttle buses running on race day. Aim to arrive by 6:00 am to allow time for registration and transition setup.
