HBF Run for a Reason offers four fully accessible road courses through Perth's CBD, all starting on Hay Street and finishing at Gloucester Park. The Half Marathon features a fast, flat route along Mounts Bay Road with stunning Swan River views before passing through the iconic Northbridge Tunnel. The 12km course also utilises the tunnel and crosses the scenic Causeway. Shorter 4km and 3km options provide beginner-friendly routes through the city centre. All courses are wheelchair accessible and held on Whadjuk Boodjar along the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River), celebrating Perth's natural beauty whilst supporting over 350 vital charities. The event combines community spirit with achievable fitness goals in an electric atmosphere.
Quick Facts
Getting There
The race starts on Hay Street in Perth's CBD and finishes at Gloucester Park. Public transport is highly recommended with Perth Train Station and numerous bus routes nearby. If driving, parking is available at Perth CBD car parks including Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, though spaces fill early. Street parking may be restricted on race day. The CBD is well-serviced by Transperth trains and buses. Arrive at least 60-90 minutes before your start time to collect your bib and complete warm-ups.
Weather & What to Pack
Late May in Perth typically brings mild autumn conditions with temperatures ranging from 12-22°C. Expect partly cloudy skies with minimal rainfall, making it ideal running weather. Mornings can be crisp, so consider a light jacket for pre-race warm-up that you can discard. The flat, exposed CBD route offers little shade, so sunscreen is recommended even in autumn. Humidity is generally low at this time of year. Hydration stations will be provided along the course, but conditions are usually comfortable for all fitness levels. Light, breathable running gear is suitable for all distances.
