About This Event

The Mansfield Marathon returns for its 5th year on the Great Victorian Rail Trail — a fast, flat and scenic out-and-back course with 5 distances for all abilities, from the 2km Junior Dash to the full 42.2km marathon.

Course Description

Set on the Great Victorian Rail Trail, the Mansfield Marathon offers one of regional Victoria's finest running surfaces — smooth, wide, and largely flat with only gentle undulations to keep legs engaged. The out-and-back course is simple to navigate with minimal road crossings, making it ideal for first-time marathoners and experienced runners alike. Surrounded by the lush Victorian High Country with Mt Buller and Mt Stirling providing a stunning backdrop, the trail winds through native bushland and open farmland. The well-maintained gravel surface provides excellent grip underfoot, and the scenic surroundings make every kilometre a pleasure to run.

Getting There

Mansfield is located approximately 175km northeast of Melbourne via the Maroondah Highway — around a 2-hour drive. The Great Victorian Rail Trail start point is easily accessible from the Mansfield town centre. Parking is available near the trail head. Arriving at least 30 minutes before your wave start is recommended to allow time for bib collection and warm-up.
