Course Description
The Kids Triathlon uses the indoor pool at MARC for a short swim, followed by a safe, flat bike loop on the centre’s paved circuit and a gentle run around the surrounding parkland. The Aquathlon swaps the bike leg for an extra run after the swim. Both courses are fully supervised, with clear signage and plenty of volunteers, making the experience enjoyable and confidence‑building for children.
Getting There
MARC is on the corner of Gordon Street and Mackay Harbour Road, a 10‑minute drive north of the CBD. Free on‑site parking is available in the centre’s car park (first 2 hours free). Bus routes 10 and 12 stop nearby at Mackay Harbour. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to allow time for registration and warm‑up.
Weather & What to Pack
November is spring in Queensland. Typical Mackay highs reach around 30 °C with overnight lows near 21 °C and very low rainfall (≈1 mm). Expect strong sunshine and moderate humidity. Dress children in a lightweight swim cap, a quick‑dry shirt and shorts, and bring a hat and sunscreen. Keep a water bottle handy for the bike and run legs.
