Getting There

Harris Dam is located approximately 200km south of Perth and 25km east of Collie. Take the South Western Highway to Collie, then follow signs to Harris Dam via Harris River Road. Ample parking is available at the dam's car park area. Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before your course start time to collect your bib, warm up, and attend the mandatory event briefing 10 minutes before your start. Car pooling is encouraged as the venue is remote.

Weather & What to Pack

September in Collie typically sees mild spring weather with daytime temperatures ranging from 12-20°C. Mornings can be cool, especially in the forested areas around Harris Dam, so dress in layers you can remove as you warm up. The region can experience occasional spring showers, so pack a light waterproof jacket. Trail conditions may be muddy if there's been recent rain. Sun protection is essential - wear sunscreen and a hat for exposed sections. Bring plenty of water as the trail environment and spring sunshine can be dehydrating.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Green, Blue, and Black courses?

Green (4-6km) is for walkers and beginner runners who want a fun trail adventure. Blue (9-12km) suits regular runners comfortable with remote trails. Black (12-16km) is for experienced trail runners seeking a challenge. You can drop down to a shorter distance on race day if needed.

When can I collect my race bib?

Bib collection is on race day only at the start/finish area. Arrive early as you must attend the mandatory event briefing 10 minutes before your course starts. Registration closes the Tuesday before the event.

Can children participate?

Yes! Minimum age is 6 for Green Course (under 12s must be accompanied by parent/guardian), 12 for Blue Course (after completing three Green events, with parent first time), and 16 for Black Course (after completing three Blue events). Kids/teens U16 get discounted entry.

What should I bring on race day?

Wear trail running shoes with good grip, carry water (especially for Blue/Black courses), and dress in layers for cool morning temperatures. Bring sun protection and consider a small pack for longer distances. Family can bring BBQ supplies to cook breakfast at the village area.

Is this event suitable for first-time trail runners?

Absolutely! The Green Course is perfect for trail running beginners, with a supportive atmosphere, DJ entertainment, and clear course markings. You'll have other participants around you the whole time, and it's completely fine to walk the hills.
