About This Event
The Bargara Tri Club Multisport Festival offers triathlon and duathlon events in the coastal town of Bargara near Bundaberg.
Course Description
The Just Us Realty Multisport Festival takes place at Crawford Park in coastal Bargara, just north of Bundaberg. Athletes enjoy stunning ocean conditions with the swim leg conducted in the calm, clear waters off Bargara Beach. The bike course features semi-closed roads through the scenic coastal town, offering flat to gently rolling terrain ideal for fast times. Cyclists complete out-and-back routes of varying distances depending on their chosen event. The run leg follows beachside paths and park trails around Crawford Park, providing spectators with excellent viewing opportunities. Junior events use modified courses within the park precinct, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for young athletes. The coastal setting delivers beautiful scenery throughout, with ocean breezes helping to moderate the Queensland sunshine.

Ample parking is available at Crawford Park and surrounding streets, though early arrival is recommended on race day. The venue is well-signposted from the main road. For those travelling from Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast, take the Bruce Highway to Bundaberg, then follow signs to Bargara. Weather & What to Pack
August in Bargara brings mild winter conditions with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 16-24°C. Mornings can be cool, especially at the 6:00 AM transition opening time, so bring warm-up gear for pre-race. The ocean water temperature averages 19-21°C, comfortable for most swimmers without wetsuits, though wetsuits are often permitted. Humidity is lower than Queensland's summer months, making it pleasant for racing. Expect mostly sunny conditions with occasional light winds. Sun protection remains important even in winter - apply sunscreen before the race. Dress in layers you can remove before your start time, and ensure adequate hydration despite the cooler temperatures.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I compete as part of a team in the Standard Triathlon?
Yes, the Standard Triathlon offers both individual and team options. Team members can split the swim, bike, and run legs between participants. This is a great option for those wanting to experience the event atmosphere without completing all three disciplines.
Are the junior events suitable for first-time participants?
Absolutely! The festival includes Hatchlings (3-6yrs), Milbis (7-9yrs), Turtles (10-12yrs), and All Abilities (2-14yrs) events specifically designed for young and beginner participants. Distances are age-appropriate, courses are safe and supervised, and the atmosphere is supportive and encouraging.
What happens if I miss my wave start time?
Transition closes at 6:45 AM, so you must have your gear set up before this time. Wave starts begin at 7:00 AM with different categories starting at 5-minute intervals. If you miss your designated wave, speak with race officials who may be able to accommodate you in a later wave.
Do I need my own bike, or are there hire options available?
Participants must provide their own bikes for all cycling disciplines. Standard road bikes or triathlon bikes are suitable for the semi-closed road course. Ensure your bike is in good working condition and consider having it serviced before race day. Helmets are mandatory for all cycling events.
Will there be finisher medals and prizes?
Every finisher receives a medal, including volunteers who contribute to the event. Trophies are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers (male and female) in each race category. The festival celebrates participation and achievement across all levels of experience.
