Athletes are encouraged to arrive at transition areas well before start times. Public transport options are limited, so arrange transfers in advance or consider staying in Palm Cove for easy access.

Weather & What to Pack

Mid-June in Tropical North Queensland offers mild winter conditions with average temperatures ranging from 18-28°C. Expect warm, sunny days with lower humidity compared to summer months. Water temperature averages around 23°C – comfortable for swimming without a wetsuit, though wetsuits are permitted. Morning starts can be cool, warming quickly by midday. Sun protection is essential year-round in the tropics. Pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for spectating. Hydration remains critical despite cooler temperatures. Occasional light showers are possible, but June is generally one of the driest months in Cairns.
