Course Description

The Walkabout Creek Trail Race takes you on a spectacular 12.5km journey around Enoggera Reservoir within d'Aguilar National Park, just 15 minutes from Brisbane CBD. This challenging course features 450 metres of elevation gain across varied terrain including steep climbs, flowing single track, and broader fire trails. Starting at the Enoggera Dam Wall, runners tackle serious hills that reward with stunning reservoir views. The course combines flatter sections with demanding ascents, testing both speed and endurance. A water station at the 9km mark provides respite before the final push back to the dam wall finish. Perfect for experienced trail runners seeking a solid workout or those ready to step up from road running.

Weather & What to Pack

Late April in Queensland offers ideal running conditions with autumn temperatures typically ranging from 12-24°C. Expect mild mornings perfect for trail running, though humidity can still be moderate. The 6:30 AM start helps you avoid the warmest part of the day. You must carry at least 500ml of water from the start, with a refill station at 9km. Bring a cap and sunscreen as trails may have exposed sections. Weather can change quickly in the national park, so check forecasts and consider light rain protection.
