About This Event
A 25km point-to-point trail run along the iconic Oaks Fire Trail through Blue Mountains National Park, from Woodford Station to Euroka Campground in Glenbrook. Organised by Running Wild NSW since 2009, with a train shuttle, finish-line sausage sizzle, and coffee included.
Course Description
The Woodford to Glenbrook Classic traces the full length of the Oaks Fire Trail — one of the Blue Mountains' most celebrated routes — for 25km of undulating bushland running. Starting at Woodford train station and finishing at Euroka Campground in Glenbrook National Park, the course winds through dense eucalypt forest with sweeping ridgeline views and the occasional rocky descent to keep you honest. A single aid station at the 12km mark (Helipad) provides water, electrolytes, fruit and snacks. The point-to-point format adds a genuine sense of adventure, and a midday cut-off keeps the field moving through this spectacular landscape.
Quick Facts
Getting There
A train shuttle runs from Glenbrook Station to Woodford on race morning — depart 7:40 AM, arrive 8:10 AM (recommended for runners). Leave your car at Glenbrook and ride the train to the start. Woodford Station is on the Blue Mountains Line from Central. Arrive at Woodford by 8:15 AM to allow time before the first wave at 8:35 AM.
Weather & What to Pack
June sits firmly in winter for the Blue Mountains, so expect cold, crisp mornings at the Woodford start — temperatures typically range from 2–13°C with morning fog or mist common on the ridge. Conditions improve as the day warms, but the trail can be damp underfoot. Wear moisture-wicking base layers and carry a light wind jacket. The midday cut-off means most runners finish before the afternoon chill sets in. Carry at least 500mL of water as mandatory gear.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to the start line at Woodford?
The recommended option is the train shuttle — park at Glenbrook and catch the 7:40 AM train from Glenbrook Station, arriving Woodford at 8:10 AM. You can also drive to Woodford, but you'll need to arrange your own return from Glenbrook or use public transport back.
What mandatory gear do trail runners need?
You must carry at least 500mL of water. There is one aid station at the 12km mark (Helipad) with water, electrolytes, fruit and snacks, plus water at the finish. Given the winter conditions in the Blue Mountains, a wind or rain layer is strongly recommended.
Is there a cut-off time for trail runners?
Yes — the cut-off is midday. Runners who have not reached the finish by 12:00 PM will be asked to withdraw from the course. This gives approximately 3 hours 25 minutes from the first wave start, which is achievable for most trail-fit runners at a comfortable pace.
What's included in the entry fee?
Your $88 entry includes pre-race coffee from 20 Mile Hollow at Woodford, course support and timing via Tempus Timing, and a finish-line spread of coffee, sausage sizzle, and a can of drink. Vegan and gluten-free options are available at the finish.
Who organises the Woodford to Glenbrook Classic?
The trail running component is organised by Running Wild NSW, who have been staging low-cost wilderness trail runs in NSW since 2009. The mountain bike component is run by the Western Sydney Mountain Bike Club (WSMTB).
