Formed in 1982 by the late Tom Worrell, Victorian Road Runners is one of Melbourne's longest-running recreational running clubs, welcoming runners and walkers of all abilities. The club's signature event is the Tan Time Trial, held on the first Saturday of every month at 7:30am at the Pillars of Wisdom on the Tan Track, Royal Botanic Gardens — an accurately measured 4km or 8km (1 or 2 laps) course that has run continuously since February 1983, with over 500 editions to date. VRR also hosts a New Year's Eve fun run each December.
