Course Description

Dubbed 'Australia's most scenic marathon', the Carcoar Cup takes you through the stunning Central West NSW countryside. The challenging course features a diverse mix of sealed bitumen roads and dirt tracks, with rolling hills, dales, and undulations that test runners of all abilities. Marathon and half marathon runners will experience breathtaking rural vistas, pass through the charming town of Neville, and circle Mount Macquarie before finishing in historic Carcoar village. The 10km course starts from Mandurama/Fell Timber Road, whilst the 6km Carcoar to Creek Dash and kids' 1.8km dash both begin on Belubula Street in the heart of Carcoar. Each route showcases the region's natural beauty, with enthusiastic community support cheering you on throughout.

Getting There

Carcoar is located in Central West NSW, approximately 250km west of Sydney via the Great Western Highway. The race start is on Belubula Street in the historic village centre. Free parking is available throughout the village on race day. Arrive early to collect your bib if you haven't done so on Saturday - the courthouse opens at 6:00 AM on race day. Marathon and half marathon runners should arrive at least 45 minutes before their start time to ensure a stress-free registration.

November in Central West NSW typically brings pleasant spring conditions, perfect for running. Historical temperatures for race day range between 8-22°C, with cool mornings warming through the day. Expect clear skies and low humidity, though mornings can be crisp. The region experiences mild spring weather with occasional breezes across open countryside. Dress in layers you can shed as you warm up, and don't underestimate hydration needs despite the moderate temperatures. Sunscreen is essential as cloud cover is minimal during this time of year.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I collect my race bib?

Bib collection is available at the historic Carcoar Court House on Saturday between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM (preferred), or on race day Sunday from 6:00 AM to 7:45 AM. If arriving on Sunday, please be there at least 45 minutes before your race start.

Are there cut-off times for the races?

There is a 6-hour cut-off time for the full marathon only. The 1.8km, 6km, 10km, and half marathon distances have no cut-off times, making them accessible for all fitness levels.

What does my entry fee include?

All finishers receive a Carcoar-themed medal, professional chip timing by Multisport Australia, post-race snacks, sponsor giveaways, and a finisher certificate. Race bibs are posted to participants who register at least two weeks before the event.

Can I run the Kids race with my child?

Yes! An accompanying adult can run with their child in the 1.8km Family Dash for an additional $10. Register your child first, then add an accompanying adult bib during registration. Note that adults won't be timed or receive a finisher's medal.

What should I know about the course conditions?

The course combines bitumen and dirt tracks with hills and undulations. All roads are closed and supervised by the Rural Fire Service, but remain vigilant. Earphones are strongly discouraged to maintain awareness of your surroundings and ensure safety throughout the event.
